Tarbela Dam

Tarbela Dam Haripur is a world second largest dam, and playing a major role in this country, located on Tarbela town, Indus River, Haripur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.

It construction was started in 1968, and completed in 1976, under the supervision of Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA), on behalf of the Government of Pakistan. Under the cost of USD 1.497 billion, approximately.

Simultaneously, it's purpose of used for main reasons like Irrigation, Flood Control, and the Generation of Hydroelectric Power. It’s reservoir capacity is about to 11.62 Million-acre feet (14.3 billion cubic meters), and Tarbela Dam turbines is about 4,888 MW, 6,298 MW, which rotate in a very quantitative way.
