Noor Jahan Tomb

Noor Jahan Tomb Lahore or Nur jahan (Maqbara) is a famous historical mausoleum, located in Shahdara Bagh (Garden), Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. It was built during in 17th Century.

Similarly, this beautiful red stone tomb was constructed for the Mughal Empress as her final resting place. Nurjahan begam tomb design was mostly similar to the Jahangir Tomb, but the model of her resting place is different from other tombs or resting place. Whereas, her tomb is located inside the mausoleum, looked like a cellar, her daughter tomb is also located there. Nur jahan (Maqbara) is totally off with light, where she had been resting.

As the history of Mughal Emperor's says that, Nur Jehan is not her real name, her real name was Mehrun Nisa Begum. Accordingly, when she came to live in Jahangir's haram, and he suddenly noticed her appearance, then he immediately offered her to marry with him.

During the period of Mughal Emperor Jahangir, she accepted his offer and become Jahangir's 12 wife. after that, he gave her name as a title "Noor Jahan" or Nur jahan meaning as a word speak their own (Nur means light, Jahan means World) so that combine these words and will become (Light of the World). Thus, she was the only one in the periods of Mughals, whose name respect appears on Mughal coins. she sadly died in the period of 1645 A.D eighteen years after Jahangir's death.
